fix mortgage rate or not?

i have currently my mortgage ac with irish nationwide the fixed rate has expired and i am now on the variable rate of 5.98%...

should i fix it now? i have heard rumours in the news that rates may drop
shortly....

what should i do? any suggestions?
 
5.98% is quite high, so maybe you should try getting a better rate by moving banks or threatening to move banks.
 
you will definitely get a better variable or tracker rate on the market. i wont fix now with all the turmoil in the market, rates may drop and then you will get a better fixed rate if this does happen....whatever about rate drops you should definitely look to switch to a more competitive provider that your current one

Probably best not to fix at the moment going by
