Hi I signed up to a 10 year fixed rate of 3.3% with a bank under my dad's advice before the virus thinking it was a good idea at the time. Now I see my bank are offering a "green mortgage" of 2.2% which I would be eligible for but can't move or they are not offering to existing customers. Am I...

Switching to a Green mortgage with the same bank.

We took out a fixed rate mortgage with BOI for 10 years at 3.3% thinking it was a good deal with 50% LTV. Was speaking to a customer service person in the bank in a casual way and she was saying about a green mortgage. This mortgage came out about 3 months after we took our out. We bought a...

    Tile dilemma

We are currently doing up a new house and I ordered some tiles for a kitchen/ diner. I paid fully for them at the time.they had to be ordered. Today I found that they quoted me the wrong price and have had the money for two weeks. I’m fairly certain they haven’t ordered them and I have a...

New build or extend an existing home?

Many thanks for such an insightful and comprehensive answer. Definitely the pros and cons list is a great idea. A self build is out of the question really unless our budget was a lot higher for the area that we want. On our last house, we did a direct labour extension which I was very...

New build or extend an existing home?

We just recently sold our house as we needed to move to a larger home for the family. I did the move with the hope of buying a second hand home which you could upscale with a fancy extension and all the mod cons. We recently went to look at a new build in the area we want which is expensive...

    Fixture or not?

I think it’ll be staying. Was getting pressure from my other half to enquire but I think as the estate agent said “ it contributed to the whole feel and look of the package”. I’ll just have to get a new one wherever we end up.
