I was told by EBS yesterday that they are announcing a rate change in the next few days.

Watch out for termination fees. For the last two years I have switched on the day my contract was up and on both occasions I was hit with a termination fee. This fee was removed after I questioned it and both companies said it was apparently a technical glitch. Maybe it was an accident but...

My understanding from the email I got is that the zero breakage fee only applies for 5 days. Maybe I am wrong.

I have just received an email confirming that there is no breakage fee but that this offer only last 5 days.

Great news. I am currently fixed at 3.15% until the end of the year. I must enquire about breakage fees and have a think about how long it would sense to fix for.

I'm in a similar boat here. I keep hearing people moving to EBS to avail of the cashback and their good rates and people praising the bank. Well they are taking advantage of existing customers who cant switch. Some people on this site seem to think switching banks will solve all the mortgage...

EBS variable rate is currently 3.7% for existing customers so I think fixing for 1 year is a reasonable gamble(I have done this for the last two years and will do probably do so again for another year)

They seem to have omitted the bit where they explain why they will not pass on AIB rate cutes to EBS customers.
