Ombudsman has just uploaded another batch of tracker decisions

It's several years to have cases adjudicated. The adjudication phase for tracker cases exceeds 2 years. Investigation can take a year or more. Cases are published online within 3-4 months of a final decision being issued and court appeal risk has passed. If referred to the courts, a tracker...

Ombudsman has just uploaded another batch of tracker decisions

It sounds obvious but the Ombudsman remit is to examine each case on its own merit. With the high figures at stake I can see why every complainant is prepared to run the gauntlet for the chance to get a tracker.

Ombudsman has just uploaded another batch of tracker decisions

I would agree with Brendan. Vast majority of the rejected cases are situations where there was not a clear entitlement to a tracker rate. The Ombudsman has stating for years that they were swamped by these type of cases. Apparently as each has to be investigated independently, it has been...

Ombudsman has just uploaded another batch of tracker decisions

The Ombudsman has updated their database to the end of December 2023. There were 106 tracker related decisions in 2023. 102 were rejected. 3 were partially upheld. 1 was substantially upheld. None were upheld in full. There is an anomaly where appeals against compensation levels awarded...

EBS What does an EBS "Variable Base Rate" mortgage mean?

Unfortunately if you can't provide evidence to back up your claim then it will be closed. While it may feel grossly unfair, the Ombudsman can only go on facts. When it comes to hearsay - your word against the bank, the Ombudsman will rely on the documents it has been provided with. I realise...

    Information Extensions Question

This question is for anybody who has made a complaint to the Ombudsman. Was your provider granted a time extension to respond to correspondence at any point during the complaints process? If so, was it once or multiple times? Also, what is the longest extension your provider received? For...

Thousands of Ulster Bank customers to get redress after Ombudsman's decision

The court hearing was in late February, it's only been a month. I understand and appreciate that people are anxious but there is no further update on the judgment pages.

Ombudsman's Annual Report comments on Tracker Cases

I agree it's very misleading. It's unfortunate for consumers that they do not define this 'longer to resolve' time frame. This leads to unrealistic expectations. Many of us are aware this process is taking several years, with timeframes being altered mid-process. I can't see when the FSPO is...

    Overview of Complaints 2023

The Overview of Complaints for 2023 has now been published and the Ombudsman has recorded a brief introductory video as well. You can read up on it all here: https://www.fspo.ie/publications/overview-of-complaints.asp

Ombudsman's Annual Report comments on Tracker Cases

Interesting comment in the introduction (not included in the section pasted above). To say this is a misrepresentation doesn't quite cover it...

    Overview of Complaints 2023

The Ombudsman is committed to publishing an overview of complaints and their progress by the end of Q1 every year. Therefore, it is due by Easter Sunday/the next 10 days. When published, the link will be available here: https://www.fspo.ie/publications/overview-of-complaints.asp It will be...

Thousands of Ulster Bank customers to get redress after Ombudsman's decision

Sorry folks, acronyms are frustrating if you're not familiar with them. Ulster Bank originally requested to leapfrog the Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court. This leave was refused. The hearing last week was in the Court of Appeal. After receiving the judgment (at some point in the future)...

Ombudsman has just uploaded another batch of tracker decisions

Remember that decisions up to November 2023 do not include preliminary decisions issued in November. There is a waiting period between the issue of the preliminary decision to the final decision of the Ombudsman. That can be several months.

Ombudsman has just uploaded another batch of tracker decisions

For what it's worth the Ombudsman uploaded several new decisions yesterday. Several have margins of 1.15% and 0.85% which, if I recall, were Ulster Bank customers. There is also an offset account included in the decision. There is no fully upheld complaint but several partially and substantially...

Thousands of Ulster Bank customers to get redress after Ombudsman's decision

You'll only get a report from somebody who was physically there. I know that @Brendan Burgess previously attended which is why we got so much information. Unless it's reported in media later on today/tomorrow, the next point at which information will become available will be the ruling. That...

How long for the Ombudsman to process a Tracker Complaint

It's not really indicative of how long the process actually takes. The investigation stage can drag on years, especially if you get caught in a cycle of responding to whatever the bank says. It's only when adjudication commences that the clock starts ticking in comparison to other complaints...

How long for the Ombudsman to process a Tracker Complaint

Happy New Year! I'm updating this thread once again so that others in the same process can stay informed. We made a tracker complaint to the Ombudsman over 4 years ago. We have been told that our case has completed adjudication. This process took 26-27 months. In late 2022 we were informed our...

Ulster bank mortgage - I have heard nothing from AIB?

Got a letter this morning saying that there had been a delay. They expected now to complete the transfer in the first half of 2024. That they had suspended extensions and topup loans until now but knew this was causing hardship for some borrowers and to get in touch if we needed that facility...
