Bank of Ireland Update on Bank of Ireland staff who lost trackers

Many Bank of Ireland staff are currently receiving redress correspondence and will shortly have overpayment and compensation paid to their Bank Account. I sincerely hope that regardless of whether staff engaged Padraic Kissane to act on their behalf in the course of this long running saga, that...

Independent Financial Review of BoI redress letter

I think we may be losing the run of ourselves a bit here. Trackers were not removed until Oct 2008, so what are you expecting redress for back to 2002!!! Redress from 2010 would suggest that you fixed for 3 or 5 years in 2007 or 2005 and you were not offered Tracker rate when that fixed period...

Bank of Ireland Update on Bank of Ireland staff who lost trackers

Great news @MAX01 and also hearing from other staff that they have been restored to Tracker today. I share your views in respect of Padraig Kissane as I am certain that we would not have had this outcome without his tireless campaigning and highlighting the plight of individual borrowers. He...

Bank of Ireland Update on Bank of Ireland staff who lost trackers

I think people need to be patient for another couple of weeks. Remember the recent press release indicated an additional 6000 cases in scope for compensation, not just in scope for the review. These 6000 cases ARE going to be compensated, however the current letters going out are in respect of...

BOI says additional 6,000 customers affected by tracker scandal

BOI did major review in 2011 and restored many customers to Tracker at that time. They did however eliminate all mortgage customers from that review who had fixed prior to CPC coming into force on 1st August 2006 and whose mortgages would have come up for rollover after the withdrawal of tracker...

Bank of Ireland Update on Bank of Ireland staff who lost trackers

The 'in scope' relates to in scope for compensation. Finally good news for a lot of people, late in the day but better late than never!!

Bank of Ireland Update on Bank of Ireland staff who lost trackers

Can't say I recall seeing the ad, however Staff Banking were hugely active at the time promoting staff offers. In addition as mentioned in last post new/existing customers availing of fixed rates late 2006/07 were all being offered roll to tracker option and Mollie28 has confirmed seeing this...

Bank of Ireland Update on Bank of Ireland staff who lost trackers

@todo it stands to reason that there had to be some manual intervention by the Bank on a wide scale in order to withdraw the Tracker roll to option on fixed rate contracts. We all know that roll to option was widely available on new and existing mortgages in the period leading up to withdrawal...

"Central Bank moves against Bank of Ireland and KBC amid tracker scandal"

It's hardly surprising that BOI and KBC are the two Banks against whom the CB are taking enforcement action. KBC had a straightforward excuse at Finance Committee!! laughable but senior management were not here when the Tracker scandal broke and they effectively are trying to wash their hands...

How many people will get their trackers back?

That's a red herring from BOI!! The last 3916 cases are already on Tracker and they have discovered small errors in respect of the margin being charged varying but c. 10 to 20 basis point. These should not be mentioned in any computation of customers returned to Tracker.

Bank of Ireland before Oireachtas Finance Committee this morning 9.30 am

It looks fairly clearcut based on L McLaughlin presentation that the Bank have concluded Phase 2. This means that if you have not by now been restored to your Tracker, you are deemed not to be impacted by the Examination. It also appears though that the CB have not signed off on the submission...

Bank of Ireland Update on Bank of Ireland staff who lost trackers

I have also heard of similar letters from FSO saying that they are now going to take staff cases forward as BOI have told them that they are not impacted by the review. This suggests that the decision has been made and I would be inclined to take anything the Helpline says with a pinch of salt...

Bank of Ireland Update on Bank of Ireland staff who lost trackers

The confirmation that BOI have completed their Tracker Examination and anyone impacted would now have been returned to Tracker rate, is not good news for staff who switched into the Variable BIK linked rate in August 2006, before taking up the 2 year fixed and ultimately losing option to revert...

Key Post What are the options for shopping around for car insurance?

I have received a very competitive quote through Chill from Ivernia Insurance. Does anybody know anything about them or have any experience with them. I see they have only started trading in 2017 but assume they would have to be fully bonded and regulated to trade here. I have ncb of 30 yrs +...

Some borrowers have only themselves to blame for losing their trackers

Brendan I switched from Tracker to staff variable in August 2006 and subsequently switched to fixed rate in early Jan 2007, when the variable rate which was linked to Revenue BIK rate was no longer available. That is what I thought. These 1,800 people fixed in 2006. Tracker mortgages were...

Some borrowers have only themselves to blame for losing their trackers

Brendan I do not subscribe to the idea of getting my Tracker back because I was 'conned' or 'tricked' out of it. The overall purpose of the Tracker review by CBOI is to assess Banks compliance with both contractual and regulatory requirements in how they dealt with the withdrawal of Tracker...

Some borrowers have only themselves to blame for losing their trackers

Brendan Not for the first time, you seem to be suggesting that bank staff 'should have known better' in relation to moving off Tracker. I'm sure you don't mean that they should be treated any differently to any other Consumer in availing of the protections afforded by Consumer protection...

Bank of Ireland Bank of Ireland Staff- Lost Tracker

That is accepted on the basis of what we know...my point is that given the ambiguity around how the mortgage is described in the Offer Letter as 'variable' it would not be outside the bounds of possibility that you you could interpret 'home loan variable rate' in an MFA to represent a...

Bank of Ireland Bank of Ireland Staff- Lost Tracker

The first MFA that we signed in Aug/Sept 2006, involved switching from Tracker (variable rate) to the BIK linked product - also variable...however the MFA stated 'in converting from Fixed rate to staff mortgage rate and this was clearly factually incorrect. When we switched from the staff...
