Experiences breaking straight out of fixed rate

for the last couple of years it has been maybe in the region of 100Eur fee per 100k. It changes on a daily basis so there is always a risk, but it is highly likely will maintain that over the near term at least

Covid-19 impact on Standard Variable Rates

why not go to KBC for up to 2.25% and 3k cashback (or PTSB, BOI)? Duration of fixing is a guess even to the best educated. My choice is to keep moving. Even if in fixed, break fees are about zero currently

overpay variable rate or switch to lower rate fixed

If it was me, Move to PTSB/BOI/EBS (if you have the ability to keep moving) - get lower rate and cashback. Then move to UB Then move to KBC If only doing 1 move, it would be UB or KBC You can over pay with all of them while fixed, and even if overpaying over the allowed amount, current rates...

Is there a penalty for switching after a month?

Have another read of the post - Currently with BOI. KBC given approval. That is stated as fact and there is no indication of any complication with KBC. The question is about penalty from BOI for leaving which I have already given my opinion Wait period is not set in stone, thats fact.

Any ideas for making the mortgage rates an election issue?

I disagree, if enough people raise the matter, it will be an election issue. Sinn Fein have jumped on this with other policies on housing, rent etc

Any ideas for making the mortgage rates an election issue?

Make repossessions easier - this is absolutely necessary, inaction is being abused by some, making the rest pay for it Bring back Mortgage Interest Supplement for people in difficulty who are engaging - I'm not sure, maybe it should be up to the banks to handle problem loans, force them to...

    Solicitor Timing Issue

The overlapping of 2 mortgages is the issue and the solicitors response. A soliciors mistake. Some mistakes cost a little money, some a lot, others get people into jail. Hence my standing of employing a good solicitor, not nesessesarly a cheap one its pointless comparing transaction speeds of...

    Solicitor Timing Issue

I briefly scanned through this post, so may be off a little and don't understand fully. From what I understand, your solicitor screwed up and drew down before before they had redemption figures, and also were tardy in transferring payoff. Their schoolboy screw up in my opinion should not have to...

    Switching Advice Needed

Get an ICB report, costs around 6Eur, will give you an idea of what you look like financially. based on what you have said alone, it won't nessesarily discount you from any bank, but if your other finances are in risk category, your reconable income isn't great (i.e. circumstances change like...

Finding it hard to get a solicitor to do a switch for me

Hi Eamonn, The rules are not set in stone. They vary quite a bit between banks, notably PTSB requires you to be with previous lender for 2 years (I thinkj I remember), where others will accept you immediately (BOI). Its all down to building up a good relationship with your mortgage rep. For...
