3 mortgages, 2 rental properties, 1 family - what are the best options?

A final update on my original post - my former home/rental property is now sold, as is my husbands! All was straightforward and despite some delays with the purchasers solicitor, the sale of my house went through a few weeks ago. We have paid a lump sum off our mortgage and as per the advice...

Ireland has the highest consumer prices in the EU

Does the State have a separate supply chain for medications than that to the pharmacies, supermarkets etc? And by mainland, do you mean mainland Europe/the continent?

    Paying voluntary UK NIC contributions

I was just looking into this as I haven't heard back from HMRC about additional voluntary contributions I made months ago - I know they are very slow but it was heading for 6 months without a reply! There has been quite a significant update to the UK Government Gateway - I can now get...

    AXA won't insure unoccupied house

Sorry for jumping in with a different but related question, but I am putting my house on the market this week after letting it for a number of years - my tenant gave notice. I hope to sell quickly but it's till going to take a few months at least. I currently have landlord insurance, is there...

Two litres of milk price increase/Dunnes?

The €5 off €25 voucher when you purchase clothing/homewares seems to be back as a pre-christmas offer, in some stores at least. I unexpectedly got one the other day in the Swords Pavilions store.

Two litres of milk price increase/Dunnes?

I get the 3 litre size of semi-skimmed milk in Dunnes, and this has increased again in price from €2.90 last week to €3.20 when I last shopped on Wednesday. Previously, there was a long standing offer where you could get two of the 3 litre cartons for €4 :(

Two litres of milk price increase/Dunnes?

Elcato, If you're on facebook there are some groups where vouchers are sought and shared, for example if coming close to expiry. Re the Dunnes Vouchers, apparently if you shop online with them the €10 off €50 discount is applied automatically (same as the vouchers) AND you also get vouchers...

3 mortgages, 2 rental properties, 1 family - what are the best options?

An update to my original post as our situation with regard to properties is changing rapidly... My husband currently has his rental property on the market, it should be going sale agreed in the next couple of weeks; my estimate on valuation was accurate. I thought I would at least wait until...

3 mortgages, 2 rental properties, 1 family - what are the best options?

Re the need for 2 cars, the problem is on those days when I work transportation is still needed get the children to and from school etc, at a minimum. They are too young and it is too far & not safe enough for them to walk/cycle. My own car finance was taken out almost 3 years ago before...

3 mortgages, 2 rental properties, 1 family - what are the best options?

Thank you NoRegretsCoyote, Points 1 & 3 in particular are resonating loudly! We have both been lucky with tenants to date for the most part, but I had difficulty with a short tenancy that the management company handled well for me - I was still out of pocket to the tune of €1k + rent lost...

3 mortgages, 2 rental properties, 1 family - what are the best options?

Hi Sarenco, Unfortunately yes, as coincidentally I just said to Brendan above (cross-post). Have based both on latest Property Price Register data for each estate/location. Nonetheless we are planning to contact Estate Agents for ball park valuations this week,

3 mortgages, 2 rental properties, 1 family - what are the best options?

Can I check where you get the €45k figure from? Property 1 value €225k, mortgage left €145 = €80k; is there a tax I will have to pay other than CGT (which would not be due as less than purchase price) I want to word this carefully to avoid a rule violation.... but things seem to be as good as...

Ulster Former First Active now Ulster Bank Customer

Overall happy as the redress amount is in line with my own amatuer calculations, which were based on historical ECB figures and using the CCPC online tools. However, I am still going to appeal the compensation as they have made an error about the status of my property which impacts the...

    Good 50/50 fridge freezer?

We have a samsung fridge freezer that’s about 60/40 & I’m delighted with it. The fridge seems to hold more than our previous full size fridge due to better layout, & the freezer section has 2 large & 1 smaller drawers that are ample for our family of 2 adults & 2 kids.
