Overpayment / re-fix flexibility of AIB's green 5yr fixed rate (and some other rates)

The form has been updated to remove any mention of actual interest rates values, so I'm guessing if you don't use the most up to date form they'll either reject your application or use the rate currently in force at the time of processing.

    Inflation of 7% for 2023?

I really don't know enough about the financial side of things to comment, that's why I asked, however, regarding the Ukraine situation, I believe there's a strong possibility that it's going to end with mushroom clouds, and inflation will be the least of our worries, but hopefully calmer heads...

    Inflation of 7% for 2023?

When you say "dark days ahead", what exactly do you foresee will happen? Not being a smart ass, it's a genuine question.

Overpayment / re-fix flexibility of AIB's green 5yr fixed rate (and some other rates)

Thanks for the fast reply Paul. I was thinking along the same lines as you, I just needed a second opinion I guess..... I have deleted the application form, let us never speak of this again! I moved from BOI to AIB a few years ago and saved a load of money, then saved a bit more money by...

Overpayment / re-fix flexibility of AIB's green 5yr fixed rate (and some other rates)

Silly question perhaps, but here goes.... If I was to submit a rate change application to restart my 5 year fixed rate with AIB today, what are the chances of AIB upping their fixed rates between now and say two weeks time when they get around to processing my application, causing me to end up...

Overpayment / re-fix flexibility of AIB's green 5yr fixed rate (and some other rates)

Thank you, I'll give that a good read later when I finish work.

Overpayment / re-fix flexibility of AIB's green 5yr fixed rate (and some other rates)

You are probably right, but my personal preference is to reduce the term, and to see it reducing, I'm sure I'll eventually get used to that not happening though :) Besides, I only fixed for 5 out of 10 years, so if the desire to reduce the term is still there, I'll still have the opportunity...

Overpayment / re-fix flexibility of AIB's green 5yr fixed rate (and some other rates)

That's my understanding also. And for infinfwhen my rate change confirmation letter arrived it said that overpayments can not be used to reduce the term length, I can just reduce the monthly payments even though I've only fixed for approximately half the remaining tell of the mortgage.

Overpayment / re-fix flexibility of AIB's green 5yr fixed rate (and some other rates)

Thanks for the tips, much appreciated, will give it a try, I just hope they switch me to to a fixed rate mortgage now.

Overpayment / re-fix flexibility of AIB's green 5yr fixed rate (and some other rates)

"Keep in mind you still have to make a request to bank to confirm the ERC for you" Is this really a "must-do" requirement, even if my calculation says no fee is due? Is this to avoid the bank declaring I've broken the fixed rate and moving me on to variable rate? I emailed both AIB Mortgages...

Overpayment / re-fix flexibility of AIB's green 5yr fixed rate (and some other rates)

Thanks for the reply If I'm on the standard <50% LTV 5 year fixed @ 2.35%, and the green rate is 2.10%, there is a positive 0.25% difference that will lead to a small ERC. However, am I right in saying that if I wait until at least 6 months into the 5 year fixed rate before making an...

Overpayment / re-fix flexibility of AIB's green 5yr fixed rate (and some other rates)

That's what I intend doing, reduce the variable portion at the end of the fixed portion. Fingers crossed for you!

Overpayment / re-fix flexibility of AIB's green 5yr fixed rate (and some other rates)

That sounds a bit rubbish, to keep it polite. So are you saying that if you're on a fixed rate with AIB you need to get clearance to make the overpayment before making the actual payment?

Overpayment / re-fix flexibility of AIB's green 5yr fixed rate (and some other rates)

Thanks Paul, glad to know it's not just me wondering. Best to take account of it in the calculations, just in case (I'm switching to an AIB fixed rate from variable but planning to make some occasional overpayments).

Overpayment / re-fix flexibility of AIB's green 5yr fixed rate (and some other rates)

Sorry if this has already been covered, I've read loads of threads here and I can't seem to find the answer, even though it has probably been staring me in the face... If you're not eligible for the fixed AIB Green mortgage rate, can that rate still be used in the calculation of overpayment...

    HP Share split

Sorry for dragging up an old post, I didn't want to create a duplicate. I recently discovered that the HPE to DXC split and the HPE to MFGP spin / merge, as mentioned above, as well as the related DXC to PRSP split, could all be taxable transactions as far as Revenue are concerned here in...
