Avantcard Cashback €144 per year - New & existing customers

I think that only refers to the Rewards+ card, with the once-off €100 and the partial interest refund. I don't see any reference there to the €12 / month that I used to get This is great, thanks

Avantcard Cashback €144 per year - New & existing customers

Avant seems to have dropped the €12/month cashback from the One card. It didn't show up on my January statement, and there's no longer any mention of it on their website: https://www.avantmoney.ie/credit-cards/one-card The only cashback offer seems to be on the Rewards card, which has a...

    Cleaning up mother-in-law's retirement finances

And @Allpartied -- good to hear your perspective. It's not my money so no offence taken ;) Even if the figures were much smaller, the principles should be similar and someone else might learn from the discussion. I've contributed and tried to help others on other AAM forums. I'll update this...

    Cleaning up mother-in-law's retirement finances

You're dead right. Independent advice has the added benefit of fending off the siblings' perception that I'm meddling in her affairs.

    Cleaning up mother-in-law's retirement finances

You guys are the best ;) That's a very clear and sensible steer to leave this in expert hands, and possibly leave it all alone completely. For context, I was aiming to correct for excessive concentration in two areas. That €150k is in two Aviva funds that have barely held their value over...

    Cleaning up mother-in-law's retirement finances

I’m trying to help my 76yo mother-in-law get her messy finances in order. Big thanks in advance for any advice. She was badly burned by overexposure to Irish banking shares a decade ago, and is understandably nervous about making the right decisions. Long story short: she has a handful of...

Avant Money - Time with Current Bank

 That is not the news I wanted to hear. Presume you heard that direct from one of their brokers? Hopefully they'll change criteria over the next few quarters...

    Tax owed on cashback?

I have a KBC card that pays back €10 / month, and one from Avantcard ("Rewards+") that pays back €12. On how I did it — I followed advice in this forum from SeanOg and others. KBC was actually the trickiest and hardest to manage

Ulster bank switch - Should we jump or not?

You'll probably be okay. But I just opted for KBC, at 2.5% on a one-year fixed, instead of Ulster at 2.2% on a two-year fixed, with the intention of moving to Avant Money a year from now.

    Tax owed on cashback?

Like the pinned post says I just finished four switches in six months: PTSB —> EBS —> BOI —> Ulster —> KBC. Loan is just over €550k so total cash bonus was €26500 (11 + 11 + 1.5 + 3). Solicitor's fees still being finalised with outlays etc., but will be well under €5k. Here's a basic...

Avant Money - Time with Current Bank

Most lenders require that you're with your current bank for a year. I imagine Avant will be pretty picky on criteria like this

Multiple switches - when to initiate next switch?

I think the only restriction on paper is that the banks won't give cashback more than once on the same property. Of course, they could operate a blacklist internally. But they'd probably only bother doing so if multiple switching seemed like a real problem for them. At the moment it's too...

    Mover - switch possible?

It's worth a conversation with another solicitor. Happy to provide you with details, I'm currently in the middle of a four-step switch and going smoothly so far. And it's worth checking with one of the banks. Maybe ring the sales team (without identifying yourself first), and ask if they...

Multiple switches - when to initiate next switch?

I owe you a pint or few for this advice a few months ago. I'm hoping to see five-figure cashbacks from EBS and BOI show up in my current account shortly, and will end up with KBC or Ulster for lower rates. (We were with PTSB originally so couldn't do the trifecta.) Much appreciated would be...
