    Music recommendations

Not usually my cup of tea music-wise but having enjoyed the excellent film Crazy Heart, I bought the sound-track. Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrell sing country? Yes and a fine fist they make of it too with some movie specific original material.

Insurance for Company Car in Car Pool

No huge mystery here. The company buys the car /cars and insures them through a broker listing all drivers individually by name or with "open drive" for all officers / employees of the company. The car may be treated as a "pool-car" for BIK purposes, but you will need to keep a log or diary...

    What do funeral costs include?

Did the executor incur these costs on behalf of the estate? If so they should be paid. Did someone other than the executor (a beneficiary or relative of the deceased) spend money and is that someone now looking to be reimbursed by the executor from the estate? If so that someone should be told...

    Cut-off point for Executor spend?

The executor is not entitled to charge for the "time" element of work he carried out on behalf of the estate. Time spent guarding the house or cutting the grass cannot be charged out at an hourly rate. If he employed security staff or gardeners, he could possibly recoup those costs, but not if...

    Visa debit cards failing repeatedly

I've had an AIB Visa Debit card for a few years now and have never had it fail. It gets used in a terminal about once a week and while the shiny skin is peeling off I've never had a problem with it. It works flawlessly online with the additional security features enabled (additional password & pin).

Pet Insurance - any suggestions for Broker or Insurer?

As the owner of a 7.5 year-old male Rottweiler, I was horrified to discover that insurance for a dog of that age is either prohibitively expensive, unavailable or only covers 40% of costs after the excess. Part of the reason is that bigger breeds have a shorter life expectancy. I hope to get...

Penalty Points and Recent Legal Issue

If the points and fine were imposed illegally because the legislators messed up, I think justice, as distinct from possibly erroneous law, needs to be served by reversing the penalties. I can't offer legal advice I'm afraid or recommend a solicitor, but you might ask your own lawyer for a...

Sacking Solicitor in Injuries Board Claim

Your understanding is correct, so I am at a loss understanding why you engaged a lawyer. If you're not happy with her services, discharge he, but you must pay your legal bills.

Leo Varadkar should tell us who is running the country

We know the identity of at least one of them.

Well done to the cabin crew or an overreaction?

Completely OTT. On at least one social media site, the Daily RedTop readers have gone into overdrive posting hysterically "It's Here!!".

Apartment gone sale agreed owing fees

I haven't suggested any such course of action, merely pointed out that the purchaser's solicitor seems to have been slow to act and needs a gee-up. I haven't suggested who should provide the gee-up. I know, I read that. No, the EA is not entitled to be privy to such information. The issue here...

Apartment gone sale agreed owing fees

Yes that's pretty much it (from my perspective). In the circumstances outlined the person who need a fire lighting under them is the purchaser's solicitor. It has nothing got to do with the EA.

    Employment/contract law question

Was the temporary posting advertised widely and publicly in work? To whom did "work" make an offer? What individual made the offer? When you say "verbally" do you mean "orally"? Were all the T&Cs not clear in the advertisement / job offer? Who in "work" makes appointments, line managers or HR?
