Unfortunately we have about 50k negative equity at the moment and neither of us would be in a position to pay to exit the arrangement.
Thanks for the helpful replies.
We are trying to come to an arrangement that suits us both. I'm moving in with my partner and he is getting married and wants to stay in the house with his wife. Otherwise I would have rented my half of the place to a tenant.
It just happens that the market...
This is an interesting point.....
I presume there is some way that one person can remain in the property and pay what amounts to rent to stay there without causing this problem?
Hi,
I have a joint mortgage with a friend on a house from a few years back. We both lived there. I'm moving out and we have agreed that he will pay the mortgage and management fees and we'll retain at 50:50 share of the place
Just wondering how this works tax wise.
Will it mean that...
Thanks for the helpful replies.
Repayments are around 1150/month over 10yrs. If I go for interest only then its just under 500e/month for 3 yrs followed by 1500e/month for 7 yrs.

So here goes,

what about how will your new lender view your existing mortgage?
They'll probably view you as a greater risk and may reflect this in the rate they offer you
Halifax have bumped their interest rate up to 11.7%
[broken link removed]
still credit €100 after 1st purchase or 6 month interest free
until 31st Mar 09....
Not sure how renting in a market where property prices are falling can cost you more? maybe in monthly outgoings for the next year, but if prices fall 20% surely having a 20% smaller mortgage by waiting a year would make more sense than having a few hundred euro extra a month for the next year...
well the first thing you need to do is use the CU savings to pay down your highest interest rate CC.
Having CU savings at the same time as credit card debt is madness!!
Are you overcomplicating this a bit?
Parents buy house, you rent it from them....end of story.
Then you can arrange it to be left to you in will or gifted to you at some stage. Or buy it off them at a later date.
Turning your parents into a lending institution so you can "own" your own...
