+2% Stress Test: A Barrier to Switching

Hi Paul, I only saw this today, would love to know how you get on. I took a break from all of this for 2 months and was not aware of the new fixed rate foe existing customers. I'll be checking this out, but knowing PTSB, they'll probably put some barrier in our way.....

Central Bank consultation paper on switching - deadline 1 November

Thanks Sarenco. My submission was published, but it is so heavily redacted it loses most of it's purpose and meaning......

Central Bank consultation paper on switching - deadline 1 November

The Central Bank contacted me about 6 weeks ago to say that they would be including a redacted version of my submission in this report. Do you have a link to it?

ptsb introduces fixed rates for existing customers

We can’t switch due to the market and the way it is being run. Here’s my scéal, from another thread .... https://www.askaboutmoney.com/threads/2-stress-test-a-barrier-to-switching.204478/

ptsb introduces fixed rates for existing customers

Nothing will change at Prison TSB. I can change my own circumstances but not PTSB. They made their bed a long time ago, and they can't get out of it now. I feel that I, and many others like me, are being trapped by other institutions who are mercifully-maintaining the life-support of PTSB...

ptsb introduces fixed rates for existing customers

No change AFAIK. We are paying 4.3% variable with Prison TSB, and want to switch to 5-year fixed rate with another lender but can't. The PTSB rate is the exact same as the variable we are on, we are being fleeced completely. I sometimes get very cross about it, but will keep pushing to get a...

+2% Stress Test: A Barrier to Switching

Update: I received a copy of the proposed redacted version of my submission to the Central Bank report CP112 late yesterday evening. They have blanked out over 50% of it, and much of the integrity and purpose of my original correspondence has been lost. What remains hints at the issue that I...

+2% Stress Test: A Barrier to Switching

We go again. New year, new increments have been applied to earnings, and LTV has reduced again. Will go via a broker in June when I have some time to pursue this again, as the broker options have improved since last year. I got an email from the Central Bank today following my submission to...

Bank admits misreporting an ICB file - where to go next?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum.... Last September I applied for a car loan with my local credit union. Both myself and my wife work full-time in the public sector, and we have not missed any payments with this or any other credit providers in the past. Not even a direct debit has been...

I will be on the Claire Byrne show tonight discussing high SVRs and lost trackers

Another thing to add to the mix is the lack of options for people who have high ltv mortgages after the crash and are now older. I tried unsuccessfully to release myself from Prison TSB 4.3% variable this year, to a lower rate fixed for 5 years but couldn’t do so. The bank is applying stress...

45,000 ptsb customers who could apply for a lower rate, have not done so.

Thanks Brendan. I thought that was the case with prison tsb all right. I could have a dart line built across the road from my house in Navan tomorrow morning by my fairy godmother and have a Ltv of 20% and prison tsb would still not budge from 4.3%....

45,000 ptsb customers who could apply for a lower rate, have not done so.

Great. I'll try and get them to honour that commitment, but I won't hold my breath....

45,000 ptsb customers who could apply for a lower rate, have not done so.

I applied for this and got the tiniest change to 4.3%, when LTV was below 90% the whole thing took 5 months for this useless institution to implement. Now that we are <80% LTV I'd love to know can we apply for the lower rate for this band of LTV.

ICB : Mortgage reported twice by lender affecting credit rating

I recently attempted to get a motor loan from the credit union, but I have been stopped in my tracks by a duplicate transaction on our ICB credit report. I ordered it last week and it appears that ptsb has registered the same mortgage twice on both my file and my wife's. The first mortgage...

New Rent to Buy Scheme between IMHO and AIB

A useful option for the can't pays. But it could be abused by the won't pays. I'm not against the principle of this, but taxpayers should not be underwriting this and it needs to be made clear that this is only available to historical cases. I'd be sickened if the scheme was going to take on...

Central Bank consultation paper on switching - deadline 1 November

Of course. But the lender I was dealing with said that it was the central bank that obliged them to stress test 5 year mortgages, when this is not the case. I pointed this out to the representative who checked with the underwriters and they confirmed that I was correct. If the stress test...
