Using the ECJ and Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts in formulating complaints

FWIW here's an example where it didn't work: https://www.askaboutmoney.com/threads/can-the-unfair-terms-in-consumer-contracts-be-used-to-challenge-high-variable-rates.195197 But maybe a different Ombudsman would take a different view today?

    Smart Meters

As mentioned above you can track things better with a smart meter via this site: https://www.esbnetworks.ie/existing-connections/meters-and-readings/my-smart-data And, once you have a reasonable amount of data, the HDF data provided can be used with this site if/when shopping around for the...

ptsb Chance to win a trip to the Olympic or Paralympic Games

Seems a bit mad that they're encouraging people to enter such details when the general approach these days is to discourage such behaviour in case of scams. Maybe the card number alone and without the CVV/expiry date isn't a problem but any move that encourages people to enter such details...

Micro v Nano - can a nano sim card be used in a phone with a micro sim card slot ? (Android).

Or just use the spare bit from an old "trio" (mini/micro/nano) SIM and stick the nano SIM into the micro SIM "enclosure". Or ask your mobile provider for a replacement SIM so that you can use the micro version.

    Copper wire phone

Even if your router is powered off your 12V battery (I presume that it can deliver the required amps? How long can it power the router for?) might not the local broadband infrastructure be impacted by a local power outage meaning that you're still offline? Seems simpler to use something like...

Prize Bond Tracker will be removed at the end of April 2024

You mean the State Savings login for viewing Prize Bond holdings and doing other stuff? How so? Seems simple to me.

Can I submit my own company accounts for dormant company?

€1.5k doesn't sound excessive for getting the job done properly and having the peace of mind that it's not going to come back to haunt you.

Best way to pay a debt

I presume you mean legal costs? Not necessarily and certainly not if it's a variable rate loan. But you will probably also need mortgage protection life insurance for a mortgage on your PPR and this is another additional cost. If you do borrow then make sure to look at the headline interest...

    State Savings Customer Service.

I had cause to contact State Savings about an issue recently. I used the web form and heard nothing back after a week or more. So I tried their email address instead and received a reply within a day or two and sorted the issue out quickly after an exchange of a few more emails...

Why don't Dunnes Stores round up/ down?

I'm not sure that your bank is that interested in how many Jaffa cakes or toilet rolls you're buying.

The Times of London/ Sunday Times Flash Sale

Many telecoms/broadband providers have the same policy so I presume that it's allowed.

Is this a good investment vehicle for old employment PRSA?

What sort of "pension provider" is this? Why these specific recommendations? What are the pros/cons risks/rewards? Why not something more diversified and low cost like an index tracker? Not bad but it's no guide to future returns. That's not great in my opinion. My (mainly index tracking)...

Over 1,000 people defrauded by investment scams since 2020

Home insurance - what are people paying on average?

It's a meaningless question given the wide variety of underwriting criteria involved that are unlikely to match for any two cases.
