    Smart Meters

Indeed, in complaints that I lodged with both Bord Gais and El Irl the Complaints Teams told me that they had no control over this as it was the Regulator who set the rule :(

This type of stuff certainly does not help the restaurant business in general.

Health Insurance Young adults and keeping them on family policy

I would consider that to be a waste of money as she will be away for so long and I do think the best thing is to speak to your health insurers. Read up on the small print before speaking to them on your policy/cover as it could possibly be the case that her being out of the country for such a...

Health Insurance Young adults and keeping them on family policy

Wouldn't recommend it. Son broke his ankle in Canada and was flown home 1st class accompanied by nurse paid for by insurance. Whole treatment cost many thousands.

VHI International might be worth considering but I've heard in the past that it is expensive.

    Small gift exemption.

The Revenue rules for the Small Gift Exemption linked to above don't make any reference to restriction on age so it does not appear to be a problem. In light of this case it would appear that it would be necessary to open accounts in the children's names to avoid any problems. It also sounds...

"more than 200 restaurants and cafes have shut this year"

Part of the closure problem is also probably that people have started to cut back on the take away coffee act. Some people were constantly buying these take-aways and not looking at the expenditure side. It can also be nearly as cheap to get a lunch as it is to get a snack with maybe two...

Health Insurance VHI to scrap Health Plus (Plan B) from 1st May 2024

From my observations (and I could be wrong because insured with VHI) it would appear to be more to do with the 100% cover for orthopaedic and ophthalmic procedures which Laya are more inclined to provide at a realistic premium. VHI have been charging the mad money on the policies being...
