Delays in accessing figures for HSE pension, never mind the pension itself

I left the HSE and wanted a statement of service. It took 2years. I think it’s a disgrace to be waiting so long for your pension. I had success only after contacting the Pension Authority.

    Separating PPR and Maintenance

How about shared custody 50:50. You overnight at the mortgage property every second week, stay at parents when your ex has the kids. She can stay at her parents/new partner when she is not the care giver. Maintenance will be just usual expenses as per now.

The auto enrolment system in Australia

Yes-one can use pension funds for a house deposit. Twice per year one gets a pension statement with the amount that can be used for buying property. I’m not sure if the money is pledged (not physically withdrawn).

Couple in late 30's with 2 kids

I’m surprised the bank remortgaged to 5 times income. I feel ye will be under severe financial pressure for years to come. We struggled with a mortgage at 40% of take home pay. At over 50% of income with mortgage and credit union and family loan. This is no room for any financial or personal shocks.

Break in Service - Teacher Advice

I would fight it- get union help. It could be a long road but it will be worth the fight. If she is not in a union join one now. The new scheme is terrible and career averaging will lead to inferior pensions. Yet contributing circa 15% of salary is not insignificant.
