Which of the Irish retail banks still offer a NON-contactless debit card as an alternative?

EBS don't offer it at all, but it may be a matter of time. Welcome to the future.

    Ulster bank atm

But have they? And how does one know what UB is or isn't doing internally? Seems like speculation is rampant, but actual proof isn't forthcoming.

    Ulster bank atm

I'm sure the ATM is external, IIRC. And, you can hardly expect it to be protected 24/7.

    Ulster bank atm

Not quite sure what you want. Not to sound too unsympathetic, but card cloning happens. ATM's get hit with devices, shoulder surfers etc. Accounts are pillaged as much as possible before bank/cardholder becomes aware so on, so forth. You put a warning out, cardholder has notified and the...

€700k missing from Rush Credit Union

The loan book will most likely be gobbled up by another institution, so in the short term it would be payments as usual. Same as pretty much happened with the others CU's that went bye bye, such as Newbridge etc.

UB checked my credit history - I did not apply for credit

They are allowed to check if they so wish when you apply for any product from what I recall.

Have EBS removed all current account fees?

I'd imagine, given their minute market share, it was easier to make their main product compliant than create a new complaint product to run in tandem.

Incompetence & lack of customer service

To confirm the source of your funds, perhaps? Have you asked them?

Switching to Tesco credit card midyear

It's accepted worldwide at any place that accepts Visa. You don't need to close your existing credit card before getting the Tesco card, but you will need a letter of closure from your old card issuer when want to close your old account provider to forward to Tesco to avoid paying stamp duty twice.

    Ptsb sterling cheque clearance

Alas a high rate of foreign cheque fraud means almost all the banks will put the cheque through the full (long) clearing process these days.

    American Express, Applications etc.

Unlikely. BOI used to be issuing agent of all AMEX products in Ireland for a long time, but (undoubtedly as part of their mandated trimming) relinquished that right. It's all run from AMEX Europe's HQ in the UK now, and they doesn't seem particularly interested in the Irish market (which I'd...

    Registered letter marked addressee only

Well, alas what you feel doesn't really come in to it. You can complain to them about the handling of your complaint, I'm sure..but I wouldn't hold out for much more than a "We're sorry to hear you are unhappy" reply.

Credit Unions - Obligation to assess creditworthiness

They could give out money willy nilly but that way madness lies. Credit is a privilege: it's hardly surprising that an institution does due diligence on the applicants past and ability to repay before giving it out, no? For new customers there are also Money Laundering laws and know your...

Donore CU encourage members to switch to PrePayPower

Hardly questionable if the charges are laid out to folks. One assumes no force is being applied.

    Registered letter marked addressee only

Post could be sent from anywhere. He/she could work across multiple branches. Temporary staff may be temporary, but in order to do their jobs they may very well still have the same level of access as a full time employee.
  17. W

    Registered letter marked addressee only

It sounds like the bank felt your complaint was less important that you personally feel about it/best handled locally. There is no obligation for the person addressed to answer you personally to your issue.

    cancelling ulster credit card

You can write a letter (the address on your statement would be the appropriate department). You can state the card(s) have been destroyed. The balance would have to be zero, and yes, you need to factor in the stamp duty.

Moving current a/c, what happens credit card a/c?

EBS don't issue credit cards anymore. Sounds like you've been reading some outdated info. Moving current account should have no impact on your CC with AIB. They're separate products.
