ptsb offered me the new business rate but then changed their mind!

Some banks do have a 14 day cooling off period so you can break out of a fixed rate for free, but only if you apply within the first 14 days. I know KBC let you do it, as i have broken out of a fixed rate with then in the past. Have a look st PTSB’s terms and conditions to see.

    1 or 5 year fix?

I am currently with AIB, on a variable rate of 2.75%. I am in the middle of switching to KBC, and i am either going to go with a 1 year fixed rate of 2.5% or a 5 year fixed rate of 2.6%. Now the general consensus out there seems to be that the ECB will raise rates towards the end of next year...

VHI Alternative to Health Plus Premiun

Hi, my parents' policy is due for renewal next month. They are both on the Health Plus Premium policy with Vhi, which costs €7,000 between them. Are there any cheaper alternatives with a similar level of cover? A private room in a high tech hospital is a must.

KBC new 10 year fixed rate

This is food for thought. At the moment i'm on a rate of 3.00% for a <60% LTV with KBC. So the 10 year rate of 2.95% is only a marginally better interest rate for me. But then there is certainy of the repayment rates for 10 years. But the question is - will they reduce their variable rates any...

Where can I get the KBC "Standard Valuation Form?"

A long time! My valuer finally got the form after about 4 days of trying. Once i got the valuation, I submitted it to them straight away, so this would have been on the 8th or 9th of December. I then heard nothing for two weeks. So i rang them up to see where the application was. I was told that...

Where can I get the KBC "Standard Valuation Form?"

Kbc finally sent out the form last Thursday. I've submitted it now. I wonder how long it will take to process it?

Where can I get the KBC "Standard Valuation Form?"

So in response to their rate cut I got my house valued last Friday. I used an approved values from their list, and my LTV is coming out at <50%, which means I can get a rate of 3.00% variable. Now the problems have started. KBC require the valuation report to be submitted using the "KBCI...

KBC changes direction? Stopping discrimination against existing customers?

Yeah i've been thinking about this over the last few days, now that KBC's strategy is now clear. My LTV is <50%, so if i stay with KBC i can get a rate of 3.00% variable. If i switched to Ulster Bank the rate will be 3.10% variable. I don't want to fix, and become captive to any bank! So i'm...

KBC changes direction? Stopping discrimination against existing customers?

I am currently with KBC on the <60% LTV product, with a rate of 3.65%. I was actually was in the process of switching to Ulster Bank, and i got approved from them last month. I could switch and get a rate of 3.10%. I was all set to go in and sign the mortgage contract with my solicitor when KBC...

Complaint regarding KBC variable rate mortgages

I’m not upset that other people are getting a better deal than me. What’s upsets me is that KBC won’t give me the same rate as new customers! Unfortunately we won’t be able to switch until 2017 when both out probation periods will be up. But we’ll be gone from KBC as soon as we can!

Complaint regarding KBC variable rate mortgages

Oh I understand some people would be very happy with the rate I am on. But since I drew down the mortgage, KBC have reduced their rates 4 times for their <60% LTV product (3.55%, then 3.50%, then 3.25%, and now 3.15%). Each time they cut their rates, it’s a real kick in the teeth, as they won’t...

Complaint regarding KBC variable rate mortgages

Hi Stefg, I too am a very annoyed KBC customer. I took out a <60% LTV mortgage with them in November 2014. The rate I got at the time was 3.65%, which included the 0.2% discount for opening a current account with them. If I was to draw down the same mortgage today, I would get a rate of 3.15%...

KBC to reduce SVR to 4.25%

Yes, i wonder will it apply to existing customers who have mortgages based on LTV rates? Does anyone have a copy of their press release?

My experience switching from BOI to KBC

Gnf, you may find that you are trapped with KBC for a certain time period. I too made the switch to KBC to get a better rate. I got the <60% LTV product on a rate of 3.65%. This rate has been cut three times since then. Like yourself, i had no luck in getting KBC to pass on their interest rate...

KBC reduces rates for new customers only - not for existing customers

This is the third time this year that KBC have reduced their LTV mortgage rates, but only for new customers. As soon as you switch to KBC you become an existing customer, and so will not benefit the next time that they reduce their rates for new customers. If anyone is thinking of switching to...

Why is there not more appreciation of BOI 2% Cashback Offer??

Why does mortgage interest relief stop you from switching? If you switch lenders you can take your mortgage interest relief with you. You just have to apply to revenue again for it.

    KBC reduces rates

In my case, i think switching to either ulster bank or boi is an option. The rates are better, and the cash payments they give out more than cover the legal fees. We owe €277k on our mortgage at the moment, and if we switched to boi we'd get 2% of that, which is €5,540 and a fixed rate of...

    KBC reduces rates

Hi gnf_ireland, I'm in exactly the same position, except my rate is slightly worse! I switched from boi to kbc to the <60% LTV product last November, and the rate i got at the time was 3.65%. It was cut to 3.55% at the start of this year, and now as of this week it's 3.50%, so it's a difference...
