Return to office - but I want to remain fully remote

The employee is always free to setup their own business, work as a contractor / freelance and then the yet to work when and where they want, in whatever way they feel is optimum. if you don't like the conditions of the job, vote with your feet! The employer will probably manage just fine without...

Return to office - but I want to remain fully remote

I think for most jobs hybrid with a 2-3 days in office is beneficial long-term for overall business and organisational smoothness, relationships, connectedness and culture. Many individuals don't agree because they prioritise themselves during work time rather than their employer's goals which I...

Public servant €8k taken from final gratuity for widows and orphans 2017

It still frustrates me that those with no S&C can't get a refund of their contributions on retirement if they sign a doc confirming they waive all rights to a spouse's pension in the future. Wildly unfair.

    Personal finance books recommendations?

Would also suggest having a browse in your local library (they do ebooks too now) to save even more money ;-) Then even if it is something you think you will get continued value out of as a reference, you can always buy your own copy Or borrow a few from a friend

waiting time to hear back from solicitor

Yes they need a certain amount of info before you can even make an appointment so they can rule out conflict of interest or work out if they would have a capacity or be a fit for the case My experience is they normally review the broad nature of the query and get back with a "yes, we could take...

Which ETF for €100 a month?

Well the fund manager tells you what the tax they have taken is so there is no manual calculation A lot only charge AMCs of 1% tbf if you look in the right places - it is maybe a fairer comparison

Which ETF for €100 a month?

Exactly - plus paying with cash instead of the fund manager sorting it from the fund, is a bit messier for the next deemed or actual disposal. Really don't see the big advantage in paying it yourself when you can alternatively top up the fund if you wish

waiting time to hear back from solicitor

I would have expected to be told "we don't have capacity" or else receive a reply within 3 days. That has been my experience - I got quite a few " we don't have capacity" responses - perhaps not a big enough fish for them

Grade 5 to Grade 7 salary scale - anomaly pay on promotion / Grade 6 higher salary

Once you are earning more than before (even 1 euro) it doesn't matter how many other grades you by passed. It is irrelevant

Raisin now offering 3.03% AER Demand Deposit Account

Yes but my understanding is the AER takes account of that, so an account with an AAER of 3.03 (interest applied monthly) is the same as an account with an AER of 3.03 (interest added daily). It is still 3.03, so if you only compare AERs across products it is not relevant when the interest is...

Preserved pre-2013 pension and rejoining public service

Really? So they won't stay separate? That's not good as the terms of the preserved pension are better. The gap working in the private sector is 10 years or so so the 6 months doesn't apply in this case but thanks Dr S

Preserved pre-2013 pension and rejoining public service

Thanks Dr S - good to know - I thought the old preserved one might get "changed into" career average if they did get merged so that's helpful to know. Thanks partnership - it is A stamp / full rate for the old preserved pension
