    State Savings Customer Service.

Anytime they call me for ID they always preface their conversation with a statement that the call is being recorded*. If they referred to a customer's legitimate concern as a 'rant' then you would have grounds for a complaint. *They never give me a chance to explain that I'm recording the call...

NTMA increases rates for State Savings products

The State Savings website is showing unavailable at the moment when you try to sign in to your account, but it is still functioning when you go direct to 'buy now'. I was able to complete two purchases of five year certificates and have received email confirmation.

NTMA increases rates for State Savings products

When cashing in my current batch of four year National Solidarity Bonds and recent five year Certificates I was emailed yesterday and they requested me to send them photo ID. Which I did within minutes of receiving the email. I then was contacted by phone to confirm my date of birth and...

NTMA increases rates for State Savings products

As highlighted above, I figure that announcing the increase now with an effective date of 1 October will allow time for the staff to process all the refunds which will be made from now until the end of September. I did a lot of cashing in and repurchasing when issue 24 rolled around and some of...

Revolut switching from Lithuanian IBANs to Irish IBANs

PayPal does not recognise Revolut. I thought that when we got Irish IBANs that this problem would be resolved.

    Putting all savings in NTMA?

Back in the day you could keep maturing An Post savings with them for years after they matured - they paid the rate applicable at the time. I had some back in the 80s and kept them until 2001 when they stopped holding them.

    New State Savings Rates

Love to know what platform they make their announcements on - would it be Iris Oifiguil or a press release to media. I knew this was going to happen sometime, though.

    Holiday Home Owners

I suggest the relative get a watering can and mix up a solution of one part bleach and four parts water and spray the road and path outside the holiday home in question, on the public road of course. Ensure this activity is visible from the holiday home and repeat regularly. Also, alert local...

    Probate of Will

I recently completed a personal application for my late father's estate for a fraction of what it would cost me if I had instructed a solicitor. From interview to grant of probate took 48 hours. The Probate Officer I was dealing with told me that some solicitors were now charging up to 3% of...

    Selfish Joggers

I live in an area which has now become contaminated by joggers but has only one footpath. While some do run aside to give space to others, the vast majority do not and just steam past pedestrians leaving very little space.

Government gives everyone 100% in their orals

I listened to Liveline yesterday. The impression conveyed was that some parents who had spent money for their children to gain advantage over others was going to be wasted. As an earlier poster said, why not eliminate the orals altogether.

If a roofer or builder calls to you door on spec...

The Gardai have a little card with their logo on it to hand out to anyone who calls to the door - it asks the caller to put their contact details on the card, and if required, they will receive a call back. Genuine builders these days are like hen's teeth, and if you get one, don't give...

    Legal fees - Probate

Before a solicitor is chosen the OP should contact the local probate office and request the information pack which is provided for personal applicants. I've been through the process myself and it is very straightforward. The fees are fixed and you can pay by card - information is on the...

    Reborn Dolls

I saw a programme once about women who acquired these dolls and wheeled them about in prams. They were very lifelike but very expensive and a bit creepy. My niece was keen about a brand called 'Babyborn' when she was younger but she has got over all that now and is quite a normal professional...

An executor may renounce their rights for whatever reason under the Rules of the Superior Courts, Appendix Q, Form 18, which is probably what Clamball's relative did.
