    Health Insurance Laya simplicity

I agree with Sue Ellen, the cover for Simplicity represents good value. A good idea is to use the HIA.ie comparison website for about three plans across providers and then print the summary on paper. Its easier to then highlight the components of cover that are important to you and see whether...

    Health Insurance Laya Simplicity

Its very very confusing out here and getting more confusing with each passing year but I think Laya Simplicity is the best plan out there given your circumstances (ortho treatment and local private hospital cover). The day to day cover is ok and the excess is not too high and there are no %...

    Beware "€10 cashback!" Ticketmaster,IrishRail,Ryan,eBay

These guys are still at it over 10 years on. A friend of mine got caught after conducting car hire booking with an established company. It is very sneaky the way they tag their "hook" on to the end of a legitimate site. As I mentioned nearly 10 years ago the practice is an example of...

Two litres of milk price increase/Dunnes?

Yes the €5 off €20 is gone. I think it is just a summer thing to keep customers coming in over the holidays. It has been replaced by a 7 day €5 off €25. The long standing €10 off €50 appears to be 14 days. aj

UB discontinuing secondary credit card in January

I have banked exclusively with UB since 1976 and my parents since the early 1950's so their exit is proving to be particularly wrenching for us. Our experience with UB over the years as been overwhelmingly positive. UB have informed us that they they will be closing down our secondary credit...

Does anyone know whether thIs cover* is provided by analogous plans in VHI? *[For the avoidance of doubt, the chemo in question was recommended by his oncologist and is considered international best practice therapy as he used an "international second opinion service."] thanks aj

Laya Laya - Save €200 by buying online instead of renewing. Is there a catch?

The original question posted by Complainer was back in 2012. At the time I didnt see the catch but in light of nearly seven years hindsight the "catch" dawned on me. Toby, sticking to the renewal quote is almost always the worst option possible. Nutso, yes you should review annually but check...

Laya Laya - Save €200 by buying online instead of renewing. Is there a catch?

Renew as part of a group scheme and you continue to get the ten percent recurring discount every year going forward. Renew on line and you get the promotional discount in that year only ..and .... you forgo the recurring group scheme discount. aj

Laya Laya - Save €200 by buying online instead of renewing. Is there a catch?

Over seven years ago Complainer asked “where’s the catch”? I might be wrong but....It appears to me now that when you renew online like this you are no longer part of a group scheme and not eligible for the recurring annual 10% discount. Aj

Health Insurance 10% group discount LAYA (payroll deduction) (most if not all plans)

Thanks snowy and sunny! From HIA website: Corporate Plans : are plans created by insurers that are marketed to large organisations. You are entitled to these plans regardless of whether or not you are a member of the group to whom it is being marketed. In some cases, these plans may offer...

Health Insurance 10% group discount LAYA (payroll deduction) (most if not all plans)

A friend who has started new employment has been offered a 10% discount on all plans by Laya. She must use payroll deduction. She and her partner are already with Laya. Is this “group discount” genuine? Or are the quoted prices already discounted for any one who ticks the group scheme box? I...

    Black Friday

I have a few friends who are retailers in a county town (electrical symbol, and jewelers). The Black Friday is very disruptive to them as it forces them to offer deep discounts on the run in to Christmas when they would be expected to make the sales in any case.

Laya Laya simplicity slight changes over last few months

Thanks Brendan, the page has an interesting feature in that it prompts for the date you took out your policy and presumably it is possible to see “changes, enhancements, clarifications and reductions” in cover over time. The original question does not relate to the list of hospitals covered but...

Laya Laya simplicity slight changes over last few months

Yes, I have been with Laya for years now and I like the simplicity product, and the flex product before that and the other product before that. But Laya keep retiring, chopping and changing offerings making it very difficult for consumers. Anyone any idea in the “12 hospitals and 5 procedures”...

Laya Laya simplicity slight changes over last few months

Thanks mexicola , that’s somewhat reassuring. I’m not an insurance professional but I would imagine that insurance policies are all about the words! I’m wondering why 12 hospitals and 5 procedures are being introduced into a revised plan?
