Advice on grant meeting - specifically on competitors

In my experience they won't want to support a business/jobs where the support leads to displacing an existing business/jobs. You'll need to show how your business differs from the existing businesses and how supporting yours will not negatively affect the others.

Am I the only one annoyed by high mortgage rates in Ireland?

Indeed it doesn't but in some cases it should be enforced - specifically I'm thinking where parties are not of equal bargaining strength. There are few mortgage providers and many people who deem it necessary (rightly or wrongly) to purchase their own home. These people do not enter the contact...

Am I the only one annoyed by high mortgage rates in Ireland?

Along with the rates, is there not an issue of fairness with SVR mortgages. The bank holds all the power and the borrower is subject to terms that dictate they must pay what ever rate the bank decides. Is the bank free to decide that the rate will be 5%, 50%, 500%? The bank would never sign up...

    New Tracker mortgages Proposal

They wouldn't - at least not voluntarily. But they should be made do so. On what planet is such as one sided contract such as SVR mortgage deemed fair? Essentially the borrower has to sign up to pay whatever rate the bank deems appropriate with no certainty on what that might be. A bank would...

80% LTV restriction deeply unfair: Loan to Income ok

I find the specification by the Central Bank of specific cut-offs for individual mortgages strange. I would have thought that they should be aiming at a more macro level. OK, maybe specifying a max LTV to avoid 100+% mortgages makes sense but beyond that I think fixed rules are too cumbersome to...

    Selling/transferring a sole trader business

It is certainly doable (I have done so). The sole trader thing won't be a hindrance if the business has some value to someone else. Valuation will depend on (amongst other things) the size of and how repeatable/reliable the revenue stream(s) are, what potential liabilities might go along with...

how to remove staples from a keyboard

The thing to do is remove a couple of keys - they clip off and back on again - to make room to extract the paperclips. Youtube will show you how (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aqSGshnVyg). The connections are very light so don't use too much force.

An Post wants to see a full bank statement before setting up a direct debit

There may be a chance of error but these can be verified brefore processing any transactions. If the customer is asked for the BIC as well as their bank name and address then these can be confirmed to be a match via online look-up. If not then the BIC is wrong. The IBAN has an error check built...

    AIB Internet Banking issues

I'd imagine some of the users above have managed to do some banking since 2009... You may need to install the latest Java from Java.com and then (assuming Windows) go in to the Java applet in the Control Panel and on the security tab bring the Security Level slider to Medium.

Why did Sepa cause the government to miss its January targets?

I don't know if it was just mine, but my usual VAT and P30 ROS debits were significantly later than normal, almost at the very end of the month.

An Post wants to see a full bank statement before setting up a direct debit

The IBAN has a (simple) error checking mechanism built in so an error with a small number of digits would easily be caught in entering the data (e.g. check out the IBAN validator at http://www.ibanvalidator.com/en/ - enter your bank details at your own risk!).

    Bank Made Up Security

Rather than deal with the sarcasm dripping from these posts, perhaps it's worth having a look at this key post on the reckless lending defense (there isn't one) and this thread from last year on the difference between your application and your loan agreement.

    Wifi Range Extender

I haven't used that specific device but a device like that should do the trick if both sections of the house are on the same electrical circuit (I think that's the term - I'm not an electrician).
