Tiles cracked in shower after 18 months

I installed a new bathroom nearly 2 years ago. Some months ago, some veneer broke away from one of the tiles (which are large) in the corner of the shower. I automatically blamed the tiles. However, 2 months later I noticed that 4 or 5 tiles have what looks like hairline cracks going through...

Purchased Shares but not Registered for 2 Months

Thanks Ravima. I emailed Computershare last night, they told me to contact the Broker. I didn't have time today but will phone them tomorrow.

Purchased Shares but not Registered for 2 Months

I purchased Vodafone shares on 20th Nov. last, knowing that they were recording dividend payments the following day. I didn't get my share cert until late last month, after a few phone calls. I was told that Computershare or Vodafone, I'm not sure which, were out of Share Certs at the time...

Adding a provisional driver - Hibernian deal

I switched to Hibernian last August. I shopped around for a quote and asked each Insurer if they would insure a 17 year old, as my son was heading for 17. Most said they wouldn't insure him, some said I had to have a policy with them for one or two years before they would insure him, others...

Buying UK Shares - Are we gaining or losing?

Thanks for the replies. I was trying to work out when would be a good time to sell. I purchased them when the exchange rate was 82cent but now that it's hitting 92 cent, I know I will have to wait until the shares go up even further to make any gain as the rate is going against me when I sell.

    noisy central heating/rads

I also have a Brandon Oil Cooker and it knocks in my bedroom every time it comes on for 5 or 10 mins. I have a bungalow so don't know how the sound travels but to me it sounds like the rad itself that is making the sound, definitely not under the floorboards. My previous cooker didn't do this...

    nokia e51 and smileys

I've had an E51 for a few months now and don't like it much at all. The thing I hate the most is when looking for a contact, if you type in the letter 'a' for instance, it brings up surnames, first names, middle names all with the letter you are looking for. That bugs me so much. I also had...

Buying UK Shares - Are we gaining or losing?

This may sound like a silly question, but if you were to buy sterling shares now, are we currently gaining with the sterling rate or when we buy, is the share converted from sterling to euro, wherby we'd be losing? Hope I'm making sense!

Getting estimate for work needed on property before putting in offer

It would be no harm to bring a builder with you to have a look and see what they have to say about the work involved. Don't shoot me but perhaps the asking price is already at a keen price to reflect the work that needs to be done?

To remove back boiler or not

My plumber disconnected my back boiler last year when I asked for his advice on the matter. He wasn't a fan of them at all. I really and truly can't believe how hot the fire now is. The sitting room was never roasting before and I had constant coal fires, now I can barely sit in front of the...

power shower or separate pump with mixer shower

I updated my bathroom last year and put in 2 ordinary Hudson Reed shower heads and installed a pump under the bath. This pump serves the bath (a jacuzzi - the pump was necessary for that) and the shower and doesn't come on when you flush loo or turn on any other tap. I wouldn't consider the...

    Cost of Man + Digger

My sister got a guy my dad always uses. I'm sure he was 100 per day. He has his own digger but not sure about dumper. Must ask her tomorrow. She got a different guy with a dumper to bring topsoil and level off the garden. Will let you know tomorrow. Of course, you'd have to be living in the...

    Pumped shower cutting out?

Could it be that your water tank isn't large enough? I had this problem and had to get 2 new tanks in the attic. It only happened if I had used a lot of water around the same time as the shower (washing machine, dishwasher). Pumps drive a lot of water out of your tank quickly.

    Selling Antique Furniture

Items need to be 100 years old to be antique. I don't think there is much of a market for 50/60 year old furniture. I have had furniture valued by Victor Mitchell in Roscrea. I just emailed him photos of the items and he gave me a rough guide price and some advice about the pieces in general...

    San Francisco Hotel

I'm just back from there but stayed down at the Wharf. Having looked up tripadvisor, I did fancy the Rex but my travel agent recommended staying in the Wharf instead. I would have much preferred to have stayed around Union Square. The King George was recommended to me in Macy's. The Chancellor...

Have to change water tank in attic, help!

I changed my water tank recently because my old one wasn't big enough. I had an insurance assessor with me in November and he recommened that I get a coffin tank, from an insurance point of view. I got 2 60 litre coffin tanks and the plumber had to build a timber platform for them to sit on...

Bathroom installation quote - is it reasonable?

My plumber took out my old suite (double sink, toilet, bath, bidet, separate shower) and the old tiles. He had to move the toilet slightly and the sink, fill up where the bidet was, fit a jacuzzi bath and I moved the shower to the adjoining wall. It took half a day to put up the shower unit...

    Creative Zen 32GB

You could get an 8GB from Elara and just add a large memory card. I bought one very recently but wouldn't recommend the company I got one from. I did buy products from Elara before and had no problems with them. I'm happy with my Zen and you can use an SD card to upgrade the memory. The only...

Looking to buy a digital camera on-line - are these guys any good ?

I bought my camera from dabs and did not have a good experience anwith them. I would definitely not recommend them to anyone. Having googled them since, I see they get a lot of bad reports.
