Old Telecom Eireann / Eircom Pension Scheme Deferred Benefits

Mercer should be able to tell you who the Trustees are. If you contact them, they should be able to help. For what its worth, in the two PRIVATE sector pensions that I was a member of, the pension was guaranteed to be paid for 5 years. This I think was to give some small balance to the fact that...

Motor Claim split between policies impact on No Claims

This often causes confusion. There is the 'Dual Indemnity Agreement', where the insurer of the DRIVER deals with the TP claim in full. If your insurer is not part of that, then both your policy and that of your wife will share the claim 50/50. However, only one NCB is affected and that is the...

    Stamp Duty on inherited land?

No stamp duty on either, but capital acquisitions tax on both. The solicitor transferring to you should be able to advise you, or put you in touch with a tax consultant who could.

    Dormant account query

A relative is Executor of her Mother's Will. As part of the general trawling with institutions, it appears that the deceased's husband has two dormant accounts with Ulster Bank, the balances of which are not known. Executor says that she has written to UB, but they have not responded. Is there...

    Executor & Trustee

Hi Clubman, You have correctly interpreted the first sentence. I presume that the solicitor who drew it up could and would clarify it, but the relationship between executor and beneficiary is strained, to put it mildly. I'm not sure if a beneficiary can contact the solicitor.

    Executor & Trustee

Thanks WD. I was looking at a will recently, where there are three adult children, but for some reason the executor was also appointed as a trustee. The estate is quite simple, house and cash. One of the children is married and his children are now all aged over 21. Do you think the trustee was...
