    House Insurance premiums inflated

SCSI have a new rebuild guide out. If a homeowner hasn’t revised their building sum insured since 2021 they are now 33% underinsured. For every €10 they claim their insurer will only pay out €6.66 That’s taking that they had an accurate sum insured in 2021…. I am a loss assessor and I am seeing...

Aviva says lowest car Insurance quote available is €280.

Same with me. I reduced the excess to €125 and fully protected bonus which actually makes it pretty good value. Business use also.

    Home Insurance

Not necessarily some insurers have contents in out buildings limited to €1000. An auto mower costs more than that let alone what else is in out buildings.

Home Buildings sum insured valuation and BER

It's not aspirational. You stated that you would create a betterment issue which is incorrect. You cannot reinstate to a pre loss condition-Where are you going to get two year old paint? You cannot rebuild without complying to current building regulations and the fact that the OP would end up in a...

Home Buildings sum insured valuation and BER

Thats not correct. The reinstatement costs will cover the cost of rebuilding in compliance with current building regulations. If triple glazed windows have to be fitted to comply with building regulations that is what will be fitted.

You need to look at scsi.ie rebuilding guide which will point you in the right direction. Your sum insured is inadequate and their guide will help to get a more accurate figure.

Home Beware liberty insurance new change to terms

Ravima, I am a loss assessor and handle property claims on behalf of the policy holder. I agree with most of what you have written If the repairs are carried out the insurers simply want proof in the form of photographs and invoices. The may inspect the property to confirm that repairs have been...

Home Point of using an insurance broker?

As a loss assessor I handle claims through both brokers and directly with the insurer. I would strongly recommend that you stay with a broker. In a number of cases the cover is more restrictive and higher excesses are applied on the direct product. If something goes wrong and you are direct with...

Home Loss Assessor now asking for percentage of proposed not final settlement.

Hi I am a loss assessor and the payment should be based on the total paid by the insurer. When the assessor was appointed an appointment letter should have been signed and that should set out the terms.
