Typical Celtic tiger estate .mixture of houses and apartments. Houses have designated 2 spaces ,apartments have one space. Insufficient parking for residents and visitors. We have spaces on the sides of the estate that could be converted into extra un designated parking. Is anyone aware of any development which has done this and what was involved in terms of planning etc.

Surface parking runs at 1000 to 1500 per space including kerbs, lines, lights etc.

Just take the spaces you want times that figure as and divide by the number of units. That's the cost.

Plus planning and design services which could be easily 10k.

Its an expensive business.

Planning conditions often limit the number of spaces in a development. Check out the conditions applied to your development to see if any such restrictions apply, or if the LA have guidelines in their development plan.

Maybe look at suds parking, the mesh stuff where the grass grows through. Might be cheaper. No lines and subject to planning might not need lighting.
