Some askaboutmoney users with hotmail addresses are experiencing problems

It appears that Hotmail is blocking emails from askaboutmoney at server level. I don't know if you can do anything about this.

So if you have some other email address, you should change your askaboutmoney registration email to it, in case you lose your password. You won't be able to recover it, as you won't get the confirmation email.

To change your email address, click on your user name on the top right hand side and then contact details - second one down.

Not sure if they will send a confirmation email to hotmail after you do this.

If you are registered with a hotmail address and you lose your password, you will have to reregister as a new user with a non-hotmail address.

Must be caused by Hotmail specific spam rules. Anyone with a hotmail account care to confirm if emails are making it to their spam folder?

If enough people complained to Hotmail, they might review their filter criteria.

Brendan

I tried to get in touch with hotmail via phone and e mail but issue got lost in a minefield of call centres and automated responses.

Will try again when I have more time and patience!

Brendan - I get email from your @askaboumoney.com email address but not from the system itself (e.g. watched thread notifications etc.).
Curiously when I get email directly from you Hotmail often says "the sender failed our fraud detection checks" but it still allows me to see the email - and it ends up in my inbox and not quarantined in junk mail etc.
Odd...

I still have it on a hotmail account but the last email I got from you was October 2015. I regularly get a spam warning for mails that appear more often and they will automatically remove them if you click OK on it. Perhaps some people did this without thinking ? If you want to test it maybe send me an email.

Hi elcato

I sent an email to your hotmail address and got the following response (I replaced your real name with elcato)

By the way, could you email me your current email address.

Thanks

Brendan, how is mail sent from the askaboutmoney.com domain? Is it sent from a mail server at your host or via Google apps?

You should include this in your spf record if you use Gmail / Google Apps.

include:_spf.google.com

I received it and replied and I got what Clubman described above at the start of the email i.e.
"The sender failed our fraud detection test and may not be who they appear to be". I'll change my email to gmail now seeing as I don't use the hotmail one that often and have it redirecting anyway.

It's sent from the askaboutmoney.com domain
How it is sent is the question.

If your forum is using Google Apps (i.e. gmail) to send email then I can see them being blocked because you haven't listed google's spf record in your askaboutmoney.com spf record.

I'm guessing you don't know and should probably refer this to your XenForo host.

If you're sending email from an application (like this forum) you need to have spf and DomainKeys (DKIM) setup correctly at a minimum.

The good news is that askaboutmoney.com isn't blacklisted anywhere.
